Progressives have been screaming about the rise of authoritarianism for more than 6 years. Mainstream Democrats have actively worked to stifle progressives (see also: Bernie). So I assume that Democrats haven't done anything about authoritarianism because THEY DON'T WANT TO. Fascism IS corporatism, without the veneer of respectability. And Democrats are nothing if not corporatists.
